Faculty Opportunities at TTIC
TTIC is a dynamic organization with much to offer. Founded in 2001, the institute has developed a sound foundation academically and administratively, and has earned a quality reputation in the computer science field, all in a relatively short time frame.
Located on the venerable University of Chicago campus, we have forged a close relationship with the Computer Science department as well as other campus departments, and are able to enjoy the many amenities the University has to offer.
For faculty, our unique three-year research assistant professor program provides the institute with a steady influx of fresh minds and new ideas. TTIC has also hosted numerous workshops and seminars, featuring respected leaders in computer science who discuss their research in current topics.
TTIC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Faculty Appointments
There are tenure, tenure-track, and research appointments available. The latter appointments are for three years and are non-renewable. Faculty receive endowment provided research funding but permanent faculty are expected to raise their summer salary and support students through external grants.
Regular faculty will have a teaching load of at most one course per year and research faculty will have no teaching responsibilities.
Applications are welcome in all areas of computer science but TTIC is currently focusing on computer vision, theoretical computer science (algorithms and complexity), computational linguistics, computational biology, electronic commerce scientific computing (including numerical analysis, numerical optimization, and signal processing), programming languages (and related areas such as formal verification and security), machine learning, and speech processing.
For all positions we require a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. candidacy, with the degree conferred prior to date of hire.
